Amber Hinson- Strydom, DVM
Veterinarian & Founder of World Tails
Dr. Amber received her academic qualification from Colorado State University's School of Veterinary Medicine and Biological Sciences in May 2005. Subsequently, she completed a one-year internship that concentrated on equine medicine and surgery.
Throughout her career, Dr. Amber has assumed numerous responsibilities within the veterinary medicine sector, treating a wide array of animal species. Her commitment to global service has been evident, as she has provided veterinary care to animals in distress across the globe. This has been achieved through World Tails and in partnership with other organizations dedicated to animal welfare.
Chris Strydom
Community Organizer & Veterinary Assistant
Chris’s wide-ranging skills and passion for animals make him an essential part of World Tails. With extensive experience handling many different species, he connects easily with local communities, building trust and fostering relationships that strengthen our outreach. His interest in veterinary medicine benefits the animals we treat and supports the mission as a whole.
Beyond his expertise, Chris’s physical strength and willingness to take on any task make him a steady and reliable presence in the field. As Dr. Amber’s husband and teammate, he adds a unique layer of collaboration, and together they form a strong foundation for World Tails’ work around the globe.


Heather Hicks
Treasurer & Administrator
Heather is Dr. Amber's sister and has been an integral part of World Tails since its inception. As our treasurer, she meticulously manages all critical financial and administrative tasks within the United States, ensuring seamless operations while Dr. Amber is engaged in international travel.
In addition to her essential domestic responsibilities, Heather has also contributed significantly to our collaborative mission campaigns abroad, providing invaluable support and expertise. Her unwavering dedication and multifaceted involvement are vital to the success and continuity of our organization.
Julienne Powell
Veterinary Nurse & Campaign Coordinator
Julienne Powell earned a B.S. in Animal and Veterinary Sciences from Clemson University in 2018, graduating magna cum laude. Following graduation she completed a fellowship in exotic animal research and nutritional management.

Julienne's career includes a wide range of experiences from veterinary medicine and exotic species research to tech start-up operation management and data analysis.
Currently, Julienne is the Lead Veterinary Nurse at Spay Neuter Island Pets (SNIP) Clinic, the low-cost spay/neuter clinic associated with Guam Animals In Need (GAIN), Guam's only animal shelter. Their duties include medication management, surgical prep, assisting with surgeries, anesthesia monitoring, record-keeping, and clinic operations.
