Education & Outreach

Making a Difference

World Tails is not only dedicated to changing animals lives. We also want to change the lives of those who love and take care of them. We believe in education: from empowering local communities to teaching the next generation of veterinarians. This includes domestic animals and livestock as well as conservation of wildlife species.

Student Teaching Project

June 2018 & June 2019

Dr. Amber worked as an instructor for Loop Abroad teaching pre-veterinary and veterinary technician students on-site at a cheetah breeding facility in South Africa called Nova's Legacy Wildlife Center.

She lectured the students on various topics with regards to cheetah anatomy and physiology, comparative anatomy of African big cats, conservation medicine and other topics related to veterinary medicine and wildlife. Hands-on laboratories were also taught to the students including suturing techniques, physical examinations on multiple species, blood and fecal testing and basic medical math calculations. The students also worked in groups to create enrichment projects for the captive animals and Dr. Amber directed them on the feasibility and execution of these projects.

Dr. Amber's goal is to inspire new generations of veterinary professionals to be passionate about wildlife conservation and the welfare of captive wildlife.
