Helping Horses
Belmopan, Belize

January 2024

On New Year's Eve weekend while Dr. Amber was working in Belize she performed surgery on two young horses to remove some rapidly growing tumors on their legs. It was suspected that these lesions were fibroblastic sarcoid tumors.

After anesthetizing the horses and then surgically removing the tumor(s), the area was cauterized in hopes of killing any tumor cells left behind.

Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for these two horses!

Loggerhead Turtle Rescue
Ambergris Caye, Belize

November 2023

This massive male loggerhead turtle sustained some major injuries that were presumed to be from a boat propeller. When he presented to the clinic, he was in serious condition and gasping for air. He lost his left hind flipper and had multiple deep soft tissue lacerations all over his body with the deepest one under his neck. That one, unfortunately, damaged his trachea beyond repair.

Dr. Amber & her team did their best to help him but ultimately he lost the battle.

Being a veterinarian has its ups and downs and this was one of the down days.

As always, your donations go towards helping all animals even if they don’t have an owner.

Spay/Neuter Campaign
Lviv, Ukraine

August 2023 & October 2023

Dr. Amber represented World Tails in Ukraine as a member of Greater Good Charities "Good Fix" team. They have now completed two clinics that safely sterilized, vaccinated, microchipped and parasite treated over 1400 cats and dogs!

Home Of Rescued Animals is our ground partner and we would not have been able to provide these services without their amazing support. The entire team is incredible and the campaigns have been a huge success!

A special thanks to campaign sponsor Mars, Inc.

Remote Veterinary Assistance
Waco Kungo, Angola, Africa

January 2023 to July 2023

Dr. Amber's husband Chris was employed on a working dog security contract in Waco Kungo, Angola, Africa. There were three working canines on this contract in a very remote location with no access to veterinary care. Dr. Amber remotely assisted them with any medical issues that came up with the dogs. One dog became seriously injured when one of her front legs was ensnared in a steel hunting trap and another sustained some injuries to his hind legs while chasing a suspect. All treatment costs were covered by World Tails thanks to generous donations from our supporters.

We are currently working on setting up a spay/neuter/vaccination campaign for the future to treat all the strays in the area.

Saving Xena
Doha, Qatar

December 19, 2020

Dr. Amber was working in Qatar and helped to save this very ill street dog. She was found by a Good Samaritan and brought to the hospital barely responsive, emaciated, cold and covered in fleas/ticks. Had she been left outside any longer without care she would have surely died within hours. She had the will to live in her eyes so we named her Xena after the famous warrior princess. She was nursed back to health and went on to find her forever home with an amazing family! Thanks to my friend Maria Garcia Alcalde for finding her that home and providing monetary assistance!

January 15, 2020

World Tails helped to rescue 7 dogs from a dire situation in San Pedro, Belize. The owner moved from the island and just left the dogs with no care, food or water. Their coats were matted, they were emaciated, covered in fleas/ticks and living in their own excrement. The conditions were horrid! After rescuing them, cleaning them up and giving them food and love World Tails sponsored to sterilize and vaccinate all of them. They all found new forever homes!
